A woman was invited to her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend's wedding and stated she "didn't hesitate to accept" and is "excited to attend" the special event.
Callie-Ann Wagstaff, aged 27, and her boyfriend, Jarryd Aston-Bough, who is 28 and works as an assistant to an anaesthetist, have been in a relationship since August 2022 and became engaged during a trip to Bali in May 2024.
However, prior to their relationship, Jarryd was in a short-term connection with Jess Fellows, a 24-year-old physical education teacher, for "essentially 24 hours, but it was on and off, just for some fun, for a period before that," Callie clarifies.
The couple split in 2021 but stayed friends – and Callie-Ann and Jess "message each other daily now," she says, even though they hadn't met before Callie-Ann and Jarryd started dating.
However, the couple was taken aback when they received an invitation to Jess' wedding with her new partner, Jordan Genner, 27 – a gathering of 150 guests in Litchfield, Staffordshire, in August 2025.
Callie shared a TikTok clip seeking people's thoughts on which outfit she should choose for the occasion.
Viewers of Callie's video expressed mixed opinions, with comments such as "you're a stronger woman than me," "is this your partner's ex??" and "I would wear white."
Other readers praised her, stating "she has moved forward, you also moved on in the end. Just because the relationship didn't work out doesn't mean the friendship isn't valid" and "this is a healthy balance of attachment and detachment that people should aim for in relationships."
Callie-Ann stated: "We all reside in the same region near Birmingham, and it's a small town – everyone is familiar with one another."
Jess and Jared were raised together, having known one another for many years.
I was familiar with their group of friends but wasn't part of it; I didn't go on vacation with them or anything similar. I knew Jess' cousin quite well, but I wasn't very close to Jess herself.
She sent me a message regarding the wedding, and I responded, 'if you need a wedding content creator, I can do it,' since I handle that on the side.
And she said, 'no, I can't have you as a content creator because I'm going to invite you.'
I assumed she was just being courteous, as we hadn't really talked much before.
But a month later, she messaged me asking for our address, and a few months after that, we received an invitation in the mail for August this year.
Callie and Jarryd connected in 2019 and remained friends for two years, during which Jarryd had a short relationship with Jess, a 24-year-old physical education instructor, in 2021.
Callie mentioned: "Jarryd and Jess went through a long on-and-off phase, you know, just for some enjoyment."
“They weren’t together long.
I was familiar with Jess, but I had no idea they were in a relationship.
But when Jarryd and I reunited later in 2021, you know, with partners you look back on your history and it turned out to be her.
Jess and I discussed it, and she mentioned that it wasn't ever really serious between them.
I've had individuals tell me, 'I can't believe you attended the wedding.'
I'm thinking, 'It's not that big of a deal to me. I'm confident in our relationship, and she's getting married, so why does it even matter?'
I believe that if you know the person you're with is faithful and will treat you well, and your relationship is strong, then why does it matter what happened before?
I'm certain Jared would never act in such a way, and I also believe she wouldn't step over any limits. If there's cheating involved, I realize it becomes more complicated.
Callie-Ann purchased a sage green dress as a choice and mentioned: “I bought that dress before I found out what color the bridesmaids would be wearing.”
Considering the circumstances [them being in that color], I thought it would appear deliberate, so I'm not going with that one.
Jess stated, "On my wedding day, I wished for the presence of people who hold significance in my life."
I was raised with Jarryd, I wanted him to be there, and I already knew Callie. Both of them would have been invited.
So even when they were together, I still desired both of them to be there.
Jarryd and I had a strong bond, while Callie was someone I recognized and would greet, but not as intimately as others.
Now I communicate with her more than I ever did, and we have grown closer.
I'm currently in a stressful phase of organizing the wedding; once everything is settled and paid for, I'll feel thrilled.
I believe it will be very pleasant for everyone to have a reunion on the big day.
Jarryd stated, "Many people find it uncomfortable, but I don't feel that way."
We are part of the same group of friends and have grown up together.
Now we are both adults who have each found our life partners.
