Lisa McHugh is stepping back for a much-needed period of rest and healing following an incurable diagnosis, but who is the individual accompanying her?
The singer married her long-term partnerNathan in 2022, following the postponement of their plans due to the pandemic.
So, how did Lisa and Nathan, parents to their children Milo and Hallie, meet? Lisa had previously shared the heartwarming details of their love story with wartamoro.com, and here's what happened...
How They Met

As a singer, Lisa's romantic tale had to involve music, and she first laid eyes on her love after performing a concert.
‘Nathan and I crossed paths on an unexpected evening in Enniskillen. I was out with a friend following a performance, and we were strolling around the smoking area,’ Lisa remembered with a smile in 2023.
She added that it was her friend who first spotted Nathan. He was in town for a night out with his cousin but wasn't residing there at the moment.
Would she claim their meeting was destiny? Lisa agreed and gently added, "He wasn't residing here at that moment; it was entirely coincidental that he was in the bar."
Tying the knot

Lisa and Nathan exchanged vows in a romantic ceremony in County Donegal in June 2022. Lisa appeared breathtaking in a form-fitting dress featuring a lace design across the body and a lengthy skirt.
The couple honored their wedding with family and close friends, including Philomena Begley, Johnny Brady, Gary Gamble, and Lisa's friend and former partner, Nathan Carter, who were all invited.
Because they had to delay their wedding due to the pandemic, Lisa and Nathan had an additional guest on their special day – their son Milo – which made the event even more meaningful.
Lisa's friend who first brought them together even received a mention in the wedding speeches, talk about an effective matchmaker!
Growing their family

Lisa and Nathan welcomed their first child together, a son named Milo, in January 2022. The devoted motherannounced their happy newswith a monochrome photograph of their son's hand and wrote: 'He's finally here and he's everything.'
In August 2021, Lisa shared the exciting news about their baby, stating, "Among all the dreams and goals I ever wished to accomplish in life, becoming a mother has always been my top priority. I can't express how thrilled and truly fortunate we are to be beginning our small family."
Lisa and Nathan's family expanded in July 2024 with the arrival of their daughter, Hallie. Hallie faced a challenging beginning, as Lisa mentioned at the timeher arrival was "far from what we had anticipated."
Building a home

Even though Lisa grew up in Glasgow, she is now well-established in Enniskillen and enjoys being with her family, frequently posting videos of their daily life and her children having fun with music.
Who holds the power over the music can often lead to disagreements in many homes, so who decides what gets played through the speakers?
Lisa couldn't stop laughing when she acknowledged that she and Nathan are like 'chalk and cheese' in terms of their music preferences. She remarked, "He's into country now, but his favorite genre is rap. We're completely different when it comes to songs!"
Was selecting the music for their wedding a bit challenging? Not in the opinion of Lisa. She shared with us, 'We are laid-back individuals and both enjoy music. We understand that we each have our favorite songs. Fortunately, everything turned out well.'
Facing tough times together

Lisa and Nathan faced a lot when their daughter Halliesuffered health problemsand had to go through hospital stays while the young one received treatment for RSV.
Fortunately, Hallie is recovering well now, but Lisa's health has suffered. Lisa disclosed in July 2025 that she hadhas received a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder.
FND impacts how the brain and nervous system function, resulting in various neurological symptoms including muscle weakness, loss of movement, seizures, difficulty walking, muscle contractions, sensory challenges, and mental difficulties.

She stated, "The exact reason for FND remains unclear, but a major factor is stress, trauma, and anxiety. Although there's no cure, it can be managed with lifestyle adjustments."
I suppose the stress and trauma from this past year, along with all we've experienced, has finally taken its toll on me both mentally and physically. Now, my body is forcing me to slow down, take time to process, and heal properly.
Lisa is stepping away from music and social media to take some time to rest and manage her health. Clearly, Nathan will be there for her throughout this process.
