Rachel Allen and her mother-in-law Darina are not only managing a highly profitable enterprise, but they are also shaping tomorrow's generation.
At some stage in the journey of every family business owner, they must consider handing over responsibility, and Rachel is confident that her legacy will be well cared for by her children.
She has three kids, Joshua, Lucca, and Scarlett, along with her husband Isaac. The couple obtained married in 1998, having connected after she joined his mother's renowned culinary academy.
"All of my kids are definitely keen on the business," the famous chef mentioned to the RTÉ Guide in April. She added that it's her daughter who is demonstrating the greatest potential.
"She's currently in her transition year, so right now she's working in the bakery and really enjoys it. I'd love for her to eventually get involved with it," the proud mother shared.
If their mother isn't persuasive enough, their grandmother could have some influence. Darina added, "At least some of them will become involved, and I believe they understand its significance."
But how lucky are we to have discovered a way to make a living, allowing us to stay on the farm we cherish and provide jobs in our community?
Although the women have everything planned for the future, they have assured others that they are not leaving anytime soon.
Darina remains active at 76 and claims she isn't planning to retire anytime soon. She humorously mentioned that the word "isn't" isn't in her vocabulary.
"Some individuals are genuinely excited about retiring, while I simply prefer to take on a bit less," she explained.
If you are passionate about your work, you'll never experience a day of labor, and I hope the Allen children share the same sentiment!
